Vence is as much visited as it is lived in: a dense old town, stone façades, and villas set in the hills around it, most of them facing due south. Those are two very different problems for a closure, and they rarely have the same answer.

The old town: discretion decides

Inside the historic centre, what is visible from the street is looked at closely. A tunnel box or a VM43 monobloc fits within the existing thickness and leaves the façade almost unchanged. That is usually what makes a project acceptable to the planning department, and it is decided before production, not on site.

The hills: heat and wide bays

Villas above the town tend to have large south-facing openings. Insulated slats slow the afternoon heat, and the traditional VT50 and VTEX50 ranges hold the wider spans without the curtain flexing. Our workshop at La Gaude is a few minutes away, so measuring visits and deliveries are straightforward.

Planning rules and co-ownership colours

Part of Vence falls under rules that pay close attention to façade appearance, and many co-ownerships impose a single colour on the whole building. That is an easy constraint to meet when the shutter is manufactured rather than bought off a shelf: the colour, the shape of the end slat, the guide type and the box position are all fixed before production.

Motorising without electrical work

Many Vence houses have no power above the openings. Two answers avoid any electrical work: a solar motor with a panel fixed on the façade, and radio motorisation (Somfy RTS and io-homecontrol, CAME), which removes the need for a switch cable. io-homecontrol has the advantage of feedback — the control knows whether the shutter actually responded.
