Roller shutters in La Gaude: the workshop is in your village

Our workshop is in La Gaude, on chemin Sainte-Pétronille. The roller shutters fitted to homes in the commune are made a few minutes from where you live.

The manufacturer is your neighbour

Most people living in La Gaude do not know that a manufacturer of shutters and closures works in their own commune. Yet that has been the case since 2011: here on chemin Sainte-Pétronille we cut, assemble and adjust the roller shutters, insect screens and roller garage doors that fitters install across the Alpes-Maritimes.

That proximity changes two practical things. The first is checking measurements: when a dimension has to be verified, nobody loses a week. The second is wearing parts. Ten years on, we know what we produced for a given opening, and we can make it again exactly as it was.

What local buildings call for

La Gaude is mostly detached villas, often built on terraced hillsides, with openings that are not all square. On buildings of this kind, two situations come up again and again.

We manufacture to the size of the opening as it actually is, even when it leans.

If you are a homeowner in La Gaude

We manufacture and we supply; we do not install. Tell us about your project and we will put you in touch with an approved fitter in your area, who will come to take measurements at your home and take charge of the job. You still have the manufacturer standing behind your shutter.

If you are a trade professional in the Alpes-Maritimes

Joiner, blind specialist, installer: our workshop is right here in the department. Checking a measurement can be settled over the phone, and parcels leave packed for transport. Our current terms and lead times are sent to you with your quotation.

What we actually make

The workshop does not produce just one type of closure. Made-to-measure roller shutters account for most of the volume: with under-lintel, face-fixed or built-in boxes, in aluminium or PVC, manual or motorised. Alongside them, we make vertical and side-opening insect screens, roller and sectional garage doors, awnings and bioclimatic pergolas.

For very exposed rooms, the shutter with adjustable slats lets you control the light instead of choosing between open and closed, an option that really comes into its own on the south-facing slopes of La Gaude.

Measuring correctly, first time

In La Gaude as elsewhere, most remedial work on site comes from a measurement taken too quickly. An opening in an older house is rarely square, and a one-centimetre error in height is immediately visible once the curtain is fitted.

Our telescopic guide rails are adjustable: they take up out-of-plumb walls instead of being defeated by them. The curtain itself is cut in the workshop to the dimensions recorded on site. And because the workshop is in the commune, checking a measurement does not mean organising half a day of travel.

Motorising a house that is already built

Converting an existing shutter to motorised operation does not mean opening up the walls. Radio control removes the cable between the switch and the motor: the control point can be placed wherever you like, with no chasing and no making good of the render.

When the power supply itself is the problem (a stone façade, an inaccessible box, a co-ownership reluctant to allow external works), solar motorisation settles the matter: the panel powers the motor, with no connection to the electrical consumer unit.

Repair rather than replace

A shutter that will no longer go up is not necessarily a shutter that needs replacing. A failed motor, a broken slat, a snapped curtain fixing or a seized emergency override can all be dealt with without removing the whole unit, as long as the box and guide rails are sound. It is quicker, considerably cheaper, and it avoids opening up a façade for nothing.

Insulation and summer comfort

A roller shutter is not only there to block out light. When closed, it creates a layer of air between the curtain and the glazing, and it is this air gap that does most of the work: against heat loss in winter and against overheating in summer. Slats filled with insulating foam amplify the effect and also dampen outside noise.

On a south- or west-facing façade, closing the shutters before the sun hits them remains the most effective way to keep indoor temperatures down. That does, however, require the shutter to be motorised, or someone to be at home to do it: one of the most practical arguments in favour of motorisation and timed programming.

Security: what really deters

A closed roller shutter is already a visible obstacle, and most break-in attempts stop there. To go further, our anti-intrusion range relies on extruded aluminium slats, considerably stronger than standard slats, and on devices that prevent the curtain from being lifted from outside.

These models combine mechanical strength with better ventilation and more natural light than solid shutters, so you do not have to choose between protecting your home and living with the shutters open.
